Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine an Sullivan, born in and lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mother is an ex-backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her the job of curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later were able to move into the historical landmark. In 2005 she was a graduate of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in the class of an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan started singing as a contralto children's choir, then a few years later in the adult choir. Sullivan was not exposed to secular music at first. "I was singing for the first time solo in the church, and someone was urging me to sign up to gospel records at the age of 11. However, I was not ready to do that," she says. "Then McDonald's offered a competition to kids from cities. After that, I was given the opportunity to perform the Grace of God on Showtime Apollo. My fans were very enthusiastic." At the age 13 she sang along in a duet with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan had signed her first contract to Jive Records when she was 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records in the year 15. She recorded an entire album but this album was never released. Sullivan was then dismissed from the record label. The singer maintained a relationship with Missy Elliott who wrote and recorded several tracks for her debut project, like the huge hit track "Backstabbers" composed by Timbaland and composed by Elliott.
